With three more COVID-19 positive cases yesterday, SL crosses 2000 mark


Colombo, 25 June, (Asiantribune.com):

The Epidemiology Unit stated that with three more positive cases yesterday identified, the total number of COVID-19 positive patients in the country stands now at 2001.

Three more navy personnel from the Iyakachchi quarantine center have tested positive for COVID 19.

The COVID 19 epidemic started spreading in the country on March 11 and has since infected 2001 among which 11 had died, according to the health ministry.

Navy personnel have accounted for a majority of the cases with 901 being affected, while 665 patients have been of Sri Lankans who returned from overseas.

Accordingly, 428 patients infected with COVID-19 are currently under medical care at hospitals while the number of recoveries in Sri Lanka has increased to 1,562.

The death toll due to the virus in the island is 11.
