AFL 2020: Harry Taylor retirement, letter to Geelong members and fans


One of the key pillars of Geelong’s modern-day premiership success has called time, with key defender Harry Taylor announcing his retirement in his own unique way.

Taylor penned a letter to Cats members and supporters on Saturday morning confirming he’d played his last AFL game.

A mature-age recruit from the first round of the 2008 draft, Taylor leaves the game with 280 games, two premierships and two All-Australians to his name.

Grand Final

The 34-year-old kept Tiger Tom Lynch reasonably quiet and was one of Geelong’s best players in its Grand Final loss at the Gabba, before joining teammates and opponents in a guard of honour to farewell outgoing legend Gary Ablett.
