Elon Musk and Grimes forced to change baby X Æ A-12’s name to comply with law

Elon Musk and his partner Grimes have been forced to change the name of their baby, who they originally named X Æ A-12, to avoid breaking the law.

California law states that special characters are not permitted in names which should employ the 26 alphabetical letters in the English language, though apostrophes and dashes are accepted.

To comply with the rules, Tesla Ceo Elon and musician were forced to change the name they originally bestowed on their son which had caused some controversy.

The couple previously explained the name they picked for their boy paid homage to their favourite aircraft SR-17 and the Elven spelling of A1.

However now Elon and Grimes have now changed their son’s name to X AE A-XII (with no special characters and numbers) followed up with the last name ‘Musk’.

When a social media recently questioned how to pronounce the name, Grimes responded you say ‘X A I’ as you would typically say those letters.

But it seems even the parents of X AE A-XII have some disagreement, as daddy Elon gave a completely different answer when he was asked.

Grimes responded to a fan when quizzed about how to pronounce her baby’s name – only for boyfriend Elon to say something completely different

“I mean it’s just X, the letter X… and then, the Æ is, like, pronounced ‘Ash’. And then, A-12, A-12 is my contribution,” he proudly added.

Therefore, Elon says the name is pronounced X Ash A 12.

Grimes gave birth to the boy on May 4 this year.

At the release of her fifth album in February, the then pregnant star said she could not understand the fascination with her romance with Elon.

“I just did not understand what I was getting into at all. Not that I’m mad about it. I just didn’t think it would be a thing. The s**t that’s happened with my boyfriend this year has overwritten so much of my life’s work,” she told Rolling Stone magazine.

Elon Musk and girlfriend Grimes in Twitter spat over baby X Æ A-12’s bizarre name

Proud parents Elon Musk and Grimes have had a salty exchange on social media over their newborn son’s bizarre name.

The pair on Tuesday left many scratching their heads over the unique moniker: “X Æ A-12”.

Grimes took to Twitter to explain the unusual spelling, but not how to pronounce it.

But it seems she made a boo-boo in her explanation, which Musk was more than happy to point out publicly.

The Tesla founder corrected Grimes, saying she got the plane wrong: “SR-71, but yes”, he tweeted in response.

Not about to take things laying down, Grimes was quick to defend herself.

“I am recovering from surgery and barely alive so may my typos b forgiven but, damnit. That was meant to be profound.”

The name was the source of much hilarity on social media yesterday with many likening it to a Wi-Fi router password and pointing out it would be a red flag for bullies.

As for the pronunciation of X Æ A-12?

Musk liked a tweet from one person who suggested it should be pronounced: “X Ash Archangel”, suggesting they may be correct.
