Euro 2020: Fratellis’ Yes Sir I Can Boogie charity cover backed by celebs

A GLASGOW band’s Euros song backed by a number of Scottish celebrities has been officially released as a charity single.

The Fratellis covered Yes Sir, I Can Boogie for the Chris Evans Breakfast Show earlier this year, racking up 300,000 views on YouTube in the process.

The band’s version of Baccara’s 1977 disco classic came after Scotland qualified for the Euro 2020 tournament. Following the team’s historic win, they celebrated by singing the song together in their dressing room and sparked a nationwide connection to the hit.

The Fratellis are set to donate 100% of the income from their single to three children’s charities – the Tartan Army Children’s Charity, SoccerAid and The Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund.

The Tartan Army charity said it was “hugely grateful” for the cash to help disadvantaged Scots children, while Gordon Brown of the Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund said they are “so honoured to be involved” in the project.

“Jon Fratelli is a patron for our charity and without him Baz and Mince we would not have been able to build our respite home for children living with cancer. They are best guys and best band, we love them,” he added.

The band’s charity cover has been backed by a range of Scottish celebrities, with author Irvine Welsh declaring: “Great tune, great band, great cause.”

Meanwhile Outlander star Sam Heughan said: “Fantastic and a great cause too!”

Other famous faces promoting the charity song online include Martin Compston, KT Tunstall, Gordon Smart, Greg Hemphill and Simon Donnelly.

The Fratellis version has also been endorsed by Mary Dostal, widow of Yes Sir, I Can Boogie lyricist Frank Dostal.

She said: “Of course I always knew this is a great song – and every time we get a request for permission to make a new version I have to ask myself if Frank (my husband) would like it! This time I know for sure he would. The Fratellis have shown what potential this song has! A great version and myself my children and grandchildren just love it – well done!”

Reception likely for Tollywood celebs in Hyderabad

Top Telugu actress Kajal Aggarwal, who is also equally popular in Tamil and Hindi movies, will be marrying businessman Gautham Kitchlu on October 30. It will be the first celebrity wedding to be held in Mumbai post lockdown.

“Like all weddings these days, it is expected to be a very intimate affair. It will be hosted by Kajal’s parents, Suman and Vinay Aggarwal. Important guests of both families will grace the occasion. Arrangements are in place to accommodate 100-plus guests on the wedding day,” says the actress’ manager, Rony.

The two-day event will be held at a five-star hotel close to Kajal’s home in Churchgate. Some B-Town celebrities are expected, Rony says, but declines to name anyone.

According to a source, the bride’s close friends, actresses Samantha Akkineni and Tammannah may not be able to attend the wedding, and will have to be content with sending their good wishes. That’s why the Maghadheera actress is planning to host a special party for the Telugu film fraternity in a month or two. “Thirty of her 50-odd movies are Telugu films, and she shares a good rapport with the Chiranjeevi clan, the Nagarjuna family, Jr NTR, Prabhas and Mahesh Babu among others. So, she’s planning to host a special party in December or January for Telugu film personalities,” the source says.

Meanwhile, the couple haven’t finalised any honeymoon plans, given that there are limited destinations available to them in the current scenario, according to the source.

Gautam Kitchlu runs Discern Living, an e-commerce venture for interior design and home decor solutions. Previously, he was Vice-President of FabFurnish and CEO of The Elephant Company, a lifestyle brand. Not much is known about how the relationship between them blossomed. “It is kind of an arranged-love marriage,” says the source, adding that, despite being a new-age girl, Kajal has been guided by her parents in both her professional and personal life. “In fact, her father Suman Aggarwal, a textile businessman, cut down on his businesses expansion plans and focused on her career instead. One of her parents always escorted her to shootings in foreign locales and she hasn’t even attended parties in pubs without her parents. Also, Kajal doesn’t even know the exact amount she earns because her parents have been handling her finances till date,” the source claims.

According to another source, some time ago, Kajal was planning to buy a swanky apartment in Jubilee Hills, following in the footsteps of her colleagues Illeana, who owns a flat in the city, and Rakul Preet Singh, who has taken an apartment on lease. It is unclear whether she will follow up on those plans post her marriage.

Kajal’s younger sister Nisha Aggarwal, who has also acted in Telugu films, got married in December 2013. Both girls did their schooling at St. Anne’s High School, Colaba. While Nisha went on to pursue hotel management, Kajal studied mass media before joining the film world.

The news of Kajal’s marriage took Tollywood by surprise. Even director Teja, her mentor, was caught off guard. “He had readied a tailor-made role for her, and now has to look for a replacement,” the source says.

Meanwhile, after the wedding, Kajal will be playing Chiranjeevi’s love interest in Acharya, and also do a film under Rana’s production house. These are two films she has committed to. Other assignments are yet to be confirmed, the source added.

NUDE Sarah Silverman & other skin-baring celebs star in cringey ‘naked ballots’ VIDEO — RT USA News

A number of celebrities, including Donald Trump critics Sarah Silverman, Mark Ruffalo, and Chelsea Handler, have raised eyebrows with a video where they strip to explain naked ballots and encourage voting.

“I’m naked,” comedian and actor Chris Rock opens the video saying, sans a shirt. He’s followed by several other outspoken liberal performers like Amy Schumer and Tiffany Haddish announcing the same thing.

“I know what you’re thinking — you’re thinking, Ruffalo, put your clothes on,” ‘Avengers’ star Mark Ruffalo says, shirtless, in a bathroom.

The celebs go on to give a warning about naked ballots, which refers to mail-in ballots that could be voided in several states, including swing state Pennsylvania, if they are not put into two separate envelopes before being sent out.

Several of the female celebrities can be seen covering their breasts. Comedian Sarah Silverman, who does her covering with her self-described “man” hands, ends the video by baring her chest, which is blurred out, and saluting the camera after the celebs encourage “everyone” to get out and vote.

“Everyone’s voice matters in this election,” Chelsea Handler, who has claimed a vote for Trump is a vote for “white supremacy,” says.

The video was put together by RepresentUs, an anti-corruption organization. Though that group’s CEO, Josh Silver, said in a statement naked ballots are “not a partisan issue,” the PSA is stuffed with anti-Trump celebrities, including a clothed Sacha Baron Cohen as his film character Borat, who will be the center of a movie critical of the president set to be released weeks before the November 3 election.

The video’s nude celebrities gimmick has made plenty of critics cringe on social media.

“I’m not mad celebrities got naked. I’m mad they aren’t hot,” podcaster Bridget Petasy tweeted

“No one asked for this,” Fox News contributor Sarah A. Carter responded.

“Thank you all for helping Trump win again,” tweeted conservative filmmaker Nick Searcy, who made a satirical version of a similarly-maligned video with liberal celebs singing a cover of ‘Imagine’ in May, a video many compared the new “naked” PSA to.

10 Aussie Celebs That Gave Up Their Platforms For #ShareTheMicNow

“There’s so much to tell you, but I don’t know how up to speed you are, I don’t know how deeply your education has failed you. Prime Minister, Scott Morrison attended Sydney Boys High School, it looks nice there, good teachers I’m sure, and yet last week he said, ‘there was no slavery in Australia’.

We know that’s just not true, we’ve written about it since the explosion of our Aboriginal literature as a response to the civil rights movement of the 1960s, we know of it in historical records written by White men, by the oral histories of those Blackbirded and their descendants, and it’s still unbelievable?

We know of it in those sold to the field under the Masters and Slaves Act during the colonisation of Australia, shackled by the neck, our people, photographed like that even, and it’s still unbelievable?

We know in the forced servitude and control of ‘wages’ throughout the 20th century, my Nana Alice included, aged 14, was sent away to work as a domestic. 14. I have a 14 year old child at home right now. A child. It’s so unbelievable?”
