Former Australian winter Olympian Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya dies in Moscow aged 20


Australian former world junior pairs figure skating winner Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya has died in Moscow aged 20.

Alexandrovskaya was born in Russia, but in 2016 received Australian citizenship and competed for her adopted nation in the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics with skating husband or wife Harley Windsor.

The pair previously gained the 2017 planet junior title and had been twice Australian national champions in pairs figure skating.

Alexandrovskaya retired from the activity in February soon after struggling various injuries.

Mr Windsor, Australia’s 1st Indigenous Winter Olympian, said he was “devastated” by the news of Alexandrovskaya’s demise.
