Tens of Thousands of Russians Protests in Khabarovsk

Tens of thousands of people demonstrated in the streets of Khabarovsk, in Russia’s far east, on July 25, extending protests against the arrest of a local governor, who was hauled to Moscow by federal authorities earlier this month. The scale of the protests, spurred by accusations that the arrest of Sergei Furgal was politically motivated, are with little precedent in modern Russia. Demonstrations in Khabarovsk, located roughly 4,000 miles east of Moscow, have now stretched into a third week. Protesters can be seen in this footage chanting in support of Furgal. Organizers and local journalists estimated the size of demonstration on July 25 at over 50,000 people. Credit: Current Time via Storyful
