Handsome Prince makes Peter Lagogiane top dog for second time

Peter Lagogiane shed tears half-way down the Wentworth Park straight as the man who used to train greyhounds for the ruler of Dubai won the Million Dollar Chase for the second time in three years.

Lagogiane, who won the inaugural Million Dollar Chase with Mystic Riot in 2018, was toasting a boilover when Handsome Prince won the sprint to the first turn and never gave anything a chance on Friday night.

Lagogiane famously told wife Jodie before the world’s richest greyhound race a couple of years ago “let’s go become millionaires”, and did it again on a stunning night of racing.

Handsome Prince ($21) ended up holding off Xerri ($8) by one-and-three-quarter lengths with a neck further back to Western Australian Tommy Shelby ($2.70f) in third.
