Breakfast radio wasn’t Jodie Oddy’s first choice, but it’s something she’s grown to love wholeheartedly. The 44-year-old has worked on and off in radio for about 20 years, with seven of those spent on Mix 102.3’s Jodie & Soda Breakfast Show.“I always wanted to be a sports journalist, so I kind of fell into breakfast radio which is fortunate because I love it,” Jodie says. While the 4am alarm isn’t exactly her favourite part of the job, Jodie says she loves that she gets to help brighten peoples’ days.“I love that you can connect with people and hopefully genuinely make them laugh or help them out if they are struggling,” she says. When she’s not making Adelaide chuckle in the mornings, the mother-of-four loves spending time with her children, Taylor, Payton, Summer and Harper, and husband Greg in their home.“We built seven years ago, my husband did 98 per cent of it, I think I chose some taps,” she says.
I work at Mix 102.3 with Mark Soderstrom (he’s like an annoying brother) doing breakfast radio. Up until recently I was also a presenter at Channel 10.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS/BEST KNOWN FOR
Probably the time we made 7-year-old Alex the Chief Firefighter for the day and we shut down the city as he rescued Travis Boak from a ‘burning building’ – 10,000 people turned up that day to support a sick child, it was incredible.
