BBL10: KFC SuperCoach winner Chris Baker on his secrets to success

KFC SuperCoach has always been a numbers game.

So when you deal in numbers for a living like Chris Baker, it certainly helps.

The father-of-two from Melbourne’s east is an accountant by day and a KFC SuperCoach BBL champion by night.

Baker’s team — Chrispy’s Critters — finished a whopping 280 points clear of his nearest rival to take out the $25,000 KFC SuperCoach BBL prize for BBL10.

It was the second time in the past four seasons he has finished top-10 in KFC SuperCoach, having achieved a high finish in SuperCoach AFL in 2018.

Baker said selecting the right cash cows had been crucial to his success.

“I think it was adapting (tactics) from the AFL and the whole concept of increasing team value that was the key,” he said.

“I started off with only one loop player in the WKP-BAT position.

“So I actually used all my bench spots to try and get cash cows going. The likes of (Daniel) Worrall, (Xavier) Bartlett, (Jack) Wildermuth and (Tanveer) Sangha were early trades to try and get the team value up.

“At one stage, about halfway through the season, I had about $2.7 million as a salary cap.

“I think that gave me considerable flexibility for the second half of the season to be able to consolidate my position in that top-10.”

Chrispy’s Critters cracked the top-five in Round 8, were second from rounds 9-12 and were ranked No. 1 from rounds 13-17.

“When I got up into the top-two and I had a look at my team value compared to other teams I thought I just needed to play it smart,” he said.

“Pick the popular players and go with the safe captaincy options and I thought time would be on my side. Certainly during the finals that was my approach, picking the players I thought would be popular picks.”

Baker said he capped double game week players at seven, although his best move was trading in Marnus Labuschagne as a loophole two rounds before he rejoined Brisbane Heat.

From a starting price of $64,400, Labuschagne averaged 88.2 points and finished BBL10 at $250,700.

“I actually traded in Labuschagne for (a loophole) two weeks before he started playing and that saved me a trade,” he said.

“That was a big pick, having him, after that first week pretty much as a permanent captain or vice-captain.”

Baker will pick up a KFC prize booty including a personalised beach towel, cricket set, an eski, 11 $11 KFC vouchers, a $30 KFC voucher, a key ring, socks and a bucket hat, although the bragging rights of being Australia’s top KFC SuperCoach mean just as much to him.

With thanks to KFC SuperCoach, our top-111 will coaches will receive a key ring, socks, a bucket hat and a $30 KFC voucher.

He wants other KFC SuperCoaches to know it doesn’t take a perfect season to be crowned Australia’s top KFC SuperCoach either.

Baker twice traded in Daniel Sams only for the Thunder all-rounder to be concussed and injured, while he had Josh Philippe (nine points) as captain for the BBL final.

My 4 Secrets for Liking Exercise More You Need To Know

Do you truly enjoy exercising? Or does it seem more like a chore? If the thought of putting your body through strenuous drills is keeping you from working out, then it’s time to switch things up. Let me share with you my 4 secrets for liking exercise more in today’s post.

With some willpower and focus, you can jumpstart your new relationship with exercise today!

Exercise is a necessity in order to maintain good health.

Now you just need to find a way to make it more enjoyable!

Liking exercise more is possible when if you take the time to incorporate activities you enjoy.

Here’s a summary of the strategies I shared in the video:

Do exercise that you LOVE.

One of the simplest ways to ensure you get a great workout is to choose something you enjoy doing.

This could mean identifying a sport that you’ve played leisurely or giving a new activity a go.

Remember you burn calories through movement, so you’re really not restricted to time in the gym!

  • Racquet sports are excellent calorie burners! Consider tennis if you have a partner or choose squash if you’re working out on your own.
  • Swimming is extremely effective at building strength and endurance. If you’re looking for structure, try a water aerobics class. Otherwise, swim in a pool on hot summer days!

Just get into something that you actually enjoy doing and chances are you will keep doing it for longer.

If you’re going to make the effort to exercise, you might as well do something you actually love doing.

So keep trying various forms of exercise out, until you find what you like most. Then get into it.

Love HOW you exercise.

Focusing on something enjoyable while exercising can be a welcome distraction from the physical challenges.

Then you’re done before you know it!

When walking on the treadmill, plug in your earphones and blast your favourite tunes on your iPod or MP3 player.

Listening to music is a great diversion that can also be very energizing.

Another thing that helps with liking exercising more is involving other people.

For example, I love playing touch (rugby), especially when it’s with people I like.

When we do exercise AND get to connect with those we like, chances for success go up.

You will experience so much “feel good” that you find it easy to be motivated to go work out or play sports.

Let EXERCISE be the reward.

Some people endorse this idea that you should reward yourself for working out and exercising.

The problem with this approach is that it usually blows up in your face.

The reason for that is because people tend to choose the wrong “rewards.”

Rewards also only really work when they are used as positive reinforcement, which means they need to be immediate to the behaviour to be effective.

These two elements make it hard for people to come up with good enough rewards to condition their nervous system, in my opinion.

A much more effective approach is to just let exercise BE the reward.

Liking exercise more BECOMES the reward once you’re into it.

When you’re doing something you like, in a manner that you like it, that is rewarding enough in itself.

Your body also releases so many “feel good” hormones as a result of exercise, that you won’t need anything else.

As long as you exercise in the right way, you will experience plenty of satisfaction from the activity itself.

Let exercise be about HEALTH.

The easiest way to develop an appreciation for exercise is to consider the benefits to your overall health.

Keep in mind that exercise helps maintain healthy vitals.

On the other hand, limited exercise can result in developing ill health and premature death.

Exercise is all about improving your quality of life.

Listen, as people, we’re not moving nearly enough and exercise will help with that.

Just start associating exercise with a much bigger and more important purpose than just looking good or losing weight, like elongating your life, for it to become something you actually WANT to do.

Listen, exercising is heaps of fun.

I know how that could sound to someone who’s a couch-potato, but it’s true!

Sometimes you just need to experiment a little bit by trying out different forms of exercise and HOW you do them before you find the thing you like.

Just start and try a few things.

Also, and this is a BONUS secret, something that might also help you like exercise more is by NOT calling it exercise.

I don’t call what I do “exercise” but training; because that’s actually more what I’m doing.

There is a purpose to what I’m doing in my workouts as liking exercise would be difficult for me without it.

I have goals and targets I’m trying to achieve.

When you’re going to the gym willy-nilly without purpose, plan or goal in mind – you’re bound to fail.

So, take a shot at these strategies and you’ll see that exercise will become an enjoyable part of your day and less like an undesirable imposition.

Even when it’s difficult, give your body the treatment it deserves.

Last Thought …

Liking exercise more is indeed possible.

You just need to be wise about it.

Many people follow everyone else.

Don’t do that!

Liking exercise is about learning to love moving around.

Just get moving.

And if you can get outside and move about safely, then definitely do that.

Let your imagination go and get creative.

If you have any comments or questions, just leave them below.

Until next time,

Stay healthy,

Secrets to Looking and Feeling Younger

The Natural Fountain of Youth: Secrets to Looking and Feeling Younger

Secrets to Looking and Feeling Younger : For several decades, aging has been a constant battle for women as they get older. Any mention of wrinkles, fine lines, and varicose veins are “fighting words” to lots of women, and because of that, women all over the world have been searching high and low for the next best thing in anti-aging.

The only thing about this particular search is that they’ve mostly been searching in all the wrong places.

All too often, we search for youth in facial serums and balms, and while those methods do work, it’s only temporary and requires constant nurturing. Who has time to tend to their skin all hours of the day, and more importantly, who wants to spend money on these balms and serums every few weeks? No one. If you want to look and feel younger, you’re going to want to invest in something that’s going to be a little more long-term.

What is this long-term solution? Well, it’s a number of things, and it certainly doesn’t involve any balms or serums! If you want to discover the secrets to the fountain of youth, read on.

Secrets to Your Fountain of Youth

Destress

Destressing from the stressful things in your life is definitely easier said than done, for sure, but it’s important that you try to lower your stress levels because it can not only make you look older but it can also speed up your aging process. So whatever things stress you out, it’s important you try to find a solution to remove or reduce that stress from your life.

Add Love Into Your Life

Yes, we know the saying, “just because you’re alone doesn’t mean you’re lonely”… blah, blah, blah. But the truth of the matter is that having love in your life is very good for your health. Now, that’s not saying to go around and start dating any and everybody, by any means, but inviting friendly company into your life will definitely spark your happy hormones.

Consider downloading a dating app even just for conversation. The best part about online dating is that if you don’t like the person, you can simply just stop talking to them. The whole point is to make a connection. If you don’t have the desire to connect with someone right now, at least connect and get to know your inner self. Whether by yourself or with someone, connecting is very healthy.

Go Green

By going green, we mean getting your recommended daily intake of green veggies. For adults, it’s recommended to get 2 to 2 ½ cups of green veggies per day, but in most cases, we don’t always get the necessary servings. So how can you get the recommended servings? Drink green juice daily.  Green juice is rich in antioxidants that rid your skin of harmful toxins that lead to skin breakouts like acne. Consuming this juice daily will definitely give you healthy glowing skin.

Get More Physical

Have you noticed that after you exercise, you feel more energized? That reason alone is why people like working out in the mornings versus at night because it’s hard for them to wind down after a night workout.

This doesn’t even require you to join a gym either. Simple things like walking on your lunch break, taking the stairs, and dancing in your living room are all great ways to get more physical and boost your metabolism, making you feel 10x’s younger!

Go on New Experiences

No matter your age, you’re never too old to try and experience new things. If you’ve never had sushi before, why not go to that new Thai restaurant and try it out. If you’ve never been to Los Angeles before, fly out there and visit the City of Angels and see how well it treats you! Once you have a new experience, it will trigger a desire to try more new things, and this, in turn, will make you feel younger and more open.

The Secrets of Shakira and Gerard Piqué’s Private Love Story – E! Online

The most recent foray into spousal terms was in January 2020, when she posted a video with trainer Anna Kaiser.

“Well, ‘the Kaiser’ doesn’t let me turn on my phone until I finish with my workout and spend the whole morning with my kids,” Shakira said, to which Anna added, “Yes, ’cause it’s time for you!” Shakira smiled and said, “Yeah, and my husband can’t find me.”

Kaiser even commented on the post, “I love thinking of the hunky husband searching for you.”

Yet going by Shakira’s previously comments about marriage, it’s merely a go-to term of endearment. She faced the same sorts of questions while she was still with de la Rúa, and she stated her actual goals (no pun intended) very clearly.

“I think I felt trapped in a golden cage for many years,” Shakira told USA Today in 2009 while promoting her album She Wolf. “The culture, the education, the upbringing, what society expects from you…Over the past year, I’ve been asking myself the question, ‘What does Shakira really want? What are her desires and how do I fulfill them?'”

And she was figuring it out.

Pizza worker seeks SA Health secrets

The lawyer for the Spanish pizza bar worker accused by SA authorities of sparking last month’s statewide lockdown has asked SA Health to hand over the information it refused to give to SA Police about his client’s alleged “lie”.

The 36-year-old, who worked in both the Stamford medi-hotel and the Woodville Pizza Bar, was last month accused by Premier Steven Marshall of “lying” to SA Health contact tracers about his employment situation, with Police Commissioner and state emergency coordinator Grant Stevens declaring that “had this person been truthful to the contact tracing teams, we would not have gone into a six-day lockdown”.

Through his lawyer, Camena Legal and Migration principal Scott Jelbert, the Spanish national has previously said he was “extremely remorseful and deeply sorry for any part his conduct played in any unnecessary lockdown actions”, saying he “did not foresee or intend that things might unfold as they have”.

However, he has also insisted some of the Government’s commentary “is not fair, accurate or complete”.

A police investigation into the issue came to nothing after SA Health refused to cooperate with SAPOL, citing “their obligation to claim privilege” over any material relating to the agency’s dealings with the man, who is currently in SA on a bridging visa pending a request to renew his graduate visa which expired this week.

But Jelbert today told InDaily he had lodged a formal request with SA Health “to get our hands on the information that no-one can get”.

“We’ve requested all information in the relevant timeframe that SA Health holds in relation to my client,” he said.

“We are formally requesting any relevant information relating to him held by SA Health.”

He said he would “expect that information to be largely the [same] information that SA Police were interested in before”, but which health authorities refused to provide “under the public health act”.

If the application is successful, he said, “we’ll get to the bottom of if there’s anything more my client has to answer for”.

“If there is, he’ll do that – and if there’s not, that really dispels the suggestion that there was information there that my client’s done a terrible thing and hurt so many people, but some bureaucratic bar has prevented police from prosecuting him.”

Asked if he was confident any documents would show the latter, Jelbert said: “Why would we poke a sleeping bear if we don’t have to?”

He suggested SA Health’s refusal to provide the information was “different to SA Police’s inability to take that information”, suggesting “they could exercise a general search warrant [which] they didn’t do”.

“The left hand and right hand of the same body can’t clap,” he said of the standoff, which he also likened to two people sitting at a table with a glass of water between them.

“Just because one person says they can’t hand the glass of water to the other person, that doesn’t mean the other can’t reach out and take the glass of water,” he said.

“The fact they can’t give it… doesn’t necessarily mean they can’t take it off them.”

But he said his client’s “focus” was “not on arming himself with weapons to go to war with this information”.

“It’s to try to make sure people understand what happened and what part, if any, that played in this lockdown,” he said.

He did not comment on Marshall’s suggestion that his client had “lied”, but said: “Whether or not he lied is a separate issue.”

“It’s been bundled up with the suggestion that my client was a cause of this lockdown,” he said.

“We’re hoping this is information we’re able to use together [with the Premier] to set the record straight.

“[My client] doesn’t want to keep living like this… worried that he’s seen as this demon, some selfish, hurtful, greedy person that puts his own interest over and above other South Australians’.”

10 Diet Secrets Women Don’t Want To Know

10 Diet Secrets Women Don’t Want To Know

10 Diet Secrets Women Don’t Want To Know : Some of the smartest women alive are those that keep the secrets of success to themselves. However, we have fortunately uncovered many of the best secrets and weight loss motivation tips just for you. You may have spent a long time searching for the best paella pan on mykitchenadvisor.com or the healthiest guide to weight loss foods on the Internet, but you can now rest easy.

  1. Resistance training

Effective weight loss plans are always ones that can incorporate regular exercise. Resistance training is particularly beneficial for women in their mid-40s because it can increase the number of calories burnt during rest. Why not put some weights into your bag when you cycle or run with some hand-held weights in your hand?

  2. Refined carbs are a no-no

Cut them out! It’s as simple as that. The excess of processing of carbohydrates degrades the micronutrients and fibre, leaving them technically useless for weight loss. The only thing you gain when eating refined carbs is a big belly. Swap them out for brown rice, barley or buckwheat.

  3. Stay hydrated

This is the secret that many people overlook. The key to losing weight is to top up with water, and what a great way too, because it requires such little effort. Research has shown that drinking just half a liter of water after a meal can increase the number of calories burnt by up to 25%.

  4. Sleepy Time

While most people will talk about weight loss shakes and food plans, we want to tell you about sleep. Deprivation of sleep actually increases the amount of body mass, as well as levels of ghrelin, a hormone that reduces satiety. Studies have linked up to 33% weight loss success with women who have slept at least eight hours a night.

  5. Cardio is Key

Aerobic exercise is the best for weight loss because it can increase your heart rate in order to burn extra calories. Try to get at least 30 minutes of cardio a day, incorporated into a resistance exercise plan. Not only will you feel good mentally, but you’ll watch the pounds just drop.

  6. Top up on healthy protein

Lean sources of meat, as well as legumes and grains such as quinoa, contain all the amino acids that promote a healthy diet and reduce satiety. When you feel fuller for longer, you can keep going on fewer calories, because you won’t want to consume more. Wonderful stuff!

  7. Write it all down

Using a journal is a great way that you can track your progress. Jot down what you eat every day, as well as one positive thought that will help your weight loss. Sticking to goals is key to success and using a journal is a great tool for this.

  8. Fiber for Energy

By increasing the amount of fibre in your diet, you can feel full for much longer and with less caloric intake. In fact, if you increase your fibre intake by a mere 12 g a day, you can decrease around 10% of your caloric intake. Smart science!

  9. Mindful eating practices

When you focus your attention on what you’re eating, you will enjoy it more and enhance the feeling of satiety. This can lead to increased weight loss in a healthy way. Try to engage with the textures, smells and feel of your food. Take the time to eat slowly and savour every bite.

  10. Intermittent fasting

If you’re wondering about how to fast for weight loss, there are numerous resources out there. By tapping into our evolutionary past, our primate ancestors never needed to eat as much. You’ll discover with intermittent fasting that you don’t need to eat as much as you think and can shed the pounds in a healthy way.

Weight loss – No More Secrets!

So there you have it. The truth is out! Now that you’re privy to our top ten tips, you won’t need to rely as much on constantly checking a weight loss calculator. Hopefully, losing weight will never be as difficult again. Just remember to stay healthy and always eat a balanced diet. For the best and good luck!
