EXCLUSIVE: Horrifying moment grandmother is grabbed off street by her suspected killer and forced into bush where her body was found next day – as police release image of man they want to speak to

Horrifying footage has captured the moment a woman was grabbed off the street by her suspected killer and forced towards the bush where she was later found dead.

The body of Maria Jane Rawlings, 45, who lived in Chelmsford, Essex, was found in shrubbery near Little Heath in Romford at around 2pm on Tuesday.

Security camera footage obtained by MailOnline captures the final moments of mother-of-two Ms Rawlings before she was bludgeoned and strangled to death.

It comes as the Metropolitan Police released images and video this evening of a man they want to speak to in connection to the killing.

In the clip, the man is seen travelling on the 364 bus towards Dagenham at around 12.16am on Tuesday, around an hour after Ms Rawlings was last seen in the CCTV footage.

Police said they believe the man has ‘significant information’ that could help with their ‘fast-paced investigation’.

The CCTV of the alleged abduction, taken from a nearby house on the day before Ms Rawlings’ body was found, shows the grandmother walking on Barley Lane at 11.17pm on Monday.

She had just left the nearby King George Hospital in Goodmayes.

Footage shows a male in dark clothing walking behind Ms Rawlings and quickening his step to catch up with her. When he reaches her, he forces his arm around hers.

She resists slightly but he forces her towards the shrubbery on a green near the busy A12. Just as they disappear from view a white car drives past.

Ms Rawlings’ body was found in the bush at 2pm on Tuesday by a man out walking his dog.

Detective Chief Inspector David Hillier, who is leading the murder investigation, said after releasing the latest footage of the man on the bus: ‘I would urge anyone who recognises this man to contact police immediately.

‘We are carrying out a fast-paced investigation and I believe this man may have significant information to help us with our enquiries. If anyone sees this man, I would ask them not to approach him but to call 999.’

A post-mortem examination at Walthamstow Mortuary gave the preliminary cause of death as neck compression and possible blunt force head trauma.

The homeowner who gave MailOnline his security footage did so in order to help trace the man seen with Ms Rawlings in the minute-long clip.

He has also appealed to the driver of the white car to contact police if he has a dash cam or if he saw anything untoward as he drove past.

The homeowner has given the footage to the Metropolitan Police and believes the man was seen walking away from the area at about 11.43pm.

Ms Rawlings lived 20-miles away from Little Heath in Chelmsford, Essex.

Her devastated family yesterday left flowers by the bush where her body was found, with a message attached to one bouquet reading: ‘Mummy. I love you now, forever and always.

‘In this s*** world you made things brighter. Forever my angel. Your Big Baby.’

Brother of woman who died in suspected murder-suicide says there were no signs her partner might kill her

The body of 48-year-old Lourdi “Lordy” Ramadan was found in a wooden chest in her Gold Coast apartment, about an hour and a half after her partner Craig Bouma was found dead there.

The case is now being treated by police as a suspected murder-suicide.

Ms Ramadan’s brother Alex Ramadan said he was shattered by the loss of his sister, who he described as a loving and caring sister and aunty.

He feared for his elderly parents after the loss of their beloved daughter and worried that they wouldn’t be able to cope with the grief.

Mr Ramadan said his mother had attempted to contact Ms Ramadan on Sunday April 18, but her phone was off.

He said her partner told her she was in bed, ill, and would call later.

Police probing suspected murder-suicide at Labrador apartment block

Police are investigating after two people were found dead in a Queensland apartment in what is being treated as a horrific murder-suicide.

Officers were first called to the Labrador unit when a 53-year-old man was found dead about 10.20am on Friday.

A second body – believed to be that of a 48-year-old woman – was then found at the residence and a crime scene was declared about 11.40am.

“Police investigations continue, and no further information can be released at this time,” Queensland Police said in a statement on Friday afternoon.

A post-mortem will be conducted at a later date.

It’s the second tragic murder-suicide to take place in Australia this week.

Nine-month-old baby Kobi Shepherdson was killed by her father in front of horrified witnesses at the Barossa Reservoir’s Whispering Wall at 4.30pm on Wednesday.

When emergency services arrived at the scene, Mr Shepherdson was already deceased and Kobi was unresponsive.

Despite the efforts of witnesses and later paramedics, she was pronounced dead.

Fourteen people wounded in suspected Palm Sunday suicide bombing at Indonesian church

Two suspected suicide bombers blew themselves up outside a Catholic church in the Indonesian city of Makassar on Sunday, wounding fourteen people on the first day of the Easter Holy Week, the country’s national police said.

The congregation had been inside the church on the island of Sulawesi at the time of the explosion, police said, just as the mass was ending.

Local police had previously said the bomber had acted alone.

“We suspect it was a suicide bombing,” South Sulawesi police chief Merdisyam, who like many Indonesians goes by one name, told reporters.

“We’re now trying to confirm his identity,” he added, referring to the suspected attacker.

Authorities were looking into which radical networks the bombers came from and whether the attack was linked to recent arrests of suspected militants, national police spokesman Argo Yuwono said.

In January, a counter-terrorism unit raided a militant hideout in Makassar and killed two men suspected by police of involvement in twin bombings at a Philippine church in 2019 that killed more than 20 people.

Father Wilhemus Tulak, a priest at the church, told Indonesian media that a suspected bomber tried to enter the church grounds on a motorbike, but had been stopped by a security guard.

A church security guard tried to prevent a man on a motorbike from entering the compound when the blast occurred, with images from the scene showing what appeared to be a body lying inside the carpark.

Churches have been targeted in the past by extremists in Indonesia, the world’s biggest Muslim-majority nation.

In 2018, a dozen people were killed when a family of suicide bombers blew themselves up at churches during Sunday services in Indonesia’s second-biggest city Surabaya.

The family – including two daughters, aged nine and 12 – and another family of five, which carried out the suicide bombing of a police headquarters, all belonged to the same Koran study group and were linked to local extremist network Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD), which has pledged allegiance to Islamic State.

Earlier Sunday, Makassar Mayor Mohammad Ramdhan said: “There are many body parts here at the church compound as well as in the street.”

News footage showed cars near the building were damaged as police cordoned off the area following the explosion.

The explosion at the city’s main Catholic cathedral happened just after congregants finished celebrating Palm Sunday, the first day of Holy Week, which commemorates Jesus’s entry into Jerusalem.

It comes a week before Easter.

“We were finishing the service and people were going home when it happened,” a man identified as the church’s pastor told local media.

An eyewitness at the scene described the explosion as “very strong”.

Gomar Gultom, head of the Indonesian Council of Churches, described the attack as a “cruel incident” as Christians were celebrating Palm Sunday, and urged people to remain calm and trust the authorities.

Indonesia’s deadliest Islamist militant attack took place on the tourist island of Bali in 2002, when bombers killed 202 people, most of them foreign tourists.

In subsequent years, security forces in Indonesia scored some major successes in tackling militancy, but more recently there has been a resurgence of militant violence.

Scott Morrison takes on health portfolio as Greg Hunt recovers from suspected infection

Scott Morrison has taken on the health portfolio while Greg Hunt is off sick with a suspected infection.

Mr Hunt spent the night under observation in hospital as doctors pumped him with fluid and antibiotics.

He is expected to make a full recovery.

The prime minister is adamant the illness is not connected to Mr Hunt’s recent coronavirus vaccine, based on medical advice he has been provided.

And he is confident the minister will be back in time for parliament next week.

“He will be fine by next week, he will be back up on his feet,” Mr Morrison told reporters in Canberra on Wednesday.

“Minister Hunt and I have worked hand-in-glove over this last year in particular on this matter and until he returns I will be personally addressing the ministerial responsibilities of health and aged care, together with minister (Richard) Colbeck.”

Trade Minister Dan Tehan has spoken to his cabinet colleague and is confident Mr Hunt will bounce back.

“He was the normal vibrant, bubbly Greg and he’s as keen to get back to work as he possibly can be,” Mr Tehan told the ABC.

He was not as definitive when asked whether Mr Hunt would make it back for parliament.

“I’m not quite sure, it will obviously depend on the speed of his recovery, he’s having a series of antibiotics and my hope is he’ll be back with us next week,” Mr Tehan said.

“But in the meantime, the prime minister has stepped up to the mantle and has taken on the health portfolio, so I think we can all agree that we’re in very safe hands while Greg is recuperating.”

There are now three federal cabinet ministers on sick leave.

Attorney-General Christian Porter and Defence Minister Linda Reynolds have both taken indefinite leave after being caught up in separate rape allegations.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews was also admitted to hospital on Tuesday after suffering broken ribs and damaged vertebrae in a fall.

Mr Hunt was joined by former prime minister Julia Gillard and Health secretary Brendan Murphy in Melbourne on Sunday, when the three became some of the first Australians to receive the AstraZeneca jab.

At the time, Mr Hunt said vaccinations safeguarded the community from more than just coronavirus.

“Whether it’s smallpox, measles, mumps, rubella, whooping cough, influenza, and now COVID-19, vaccinations can save lives and protect lives,” he told reporters.

Mr Hunt, who has served as health minister since 2017, has been overseeing Australia’s medical response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Health Minister Greg Hunt admitted to hospital with suspected infection

Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt has been admitted to hospital with a suspected infection.

Mr Hunt received the AstraZeneca vaccine on the weekend but his office said his condition was not believed to be related to the vaccination.

A statement from the minister’s office says he will be kept overnight for observation and is being given antibiotics and fluid.

“The minister is expected to make a full recovery,” it reads.

“His condition is not considered to be related to the vaccine.”

Mr Hunt is now one of three ministers currently on leave.

Defence Minister Linda Reynolds took sick leave late last month after she was admitted to hospital on the advice of her cardiologist.

She had faced questioning over her handling of a rape allegation that former staffer Brittany Higgins levelled against a colleague.

Attorney-General Christian Porter took leave last week after denying a historical rape allegation.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said today he had a strong team that could cover the absences of Senator Reynolds and Mr Porter.

Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne is currently filling in for Senator Reynolds and Employment Minister Michaelia Cash has taken on Mr Porter’s responsibilities.

The ABC understands there are currently no arrangements for another minister to take on Mr Hunt’s duties.

The Opposition has offered to provide a pair for Mr Hunt.

“Labor will provide a pair, as we always have when someone is genuinely on sick leave,” Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations Tony Burke said.

Parliament sits for two weeks from next March 15.

Eight people stabbed in suspected terrorist attack, say Swedish police : worldnews

Most of these immigrants can’t or simply don’t want to adapt to european countries. Everyone in trouble should be given the opportunity to enter and stay in a country, but don’t come there and start making shit like you are in your own country. No country is forced to take you if you can’t adapt. Sweden is slowly becoming a muslim ghetto. Many of you might say that I am wrong but just take a look at the crime statistics and no go zones and see that these are all done by a large majority of muslims. Rape has increased, stabbings, killings. Why does everyone believes that europe is responsible for these people? There are rich arab countries that should take them yet they don’t because even they know that most of these people will cause trouble

Rockets fired on United States Ain al-Asad airbase in Iraq in suspected retaliatory attack

At least 10 rockets have been launched towards a military base in western Iraq that hosts United States, coalition and Iraqi forces, according to US officials.

It’s not immediately known if there were any casualties.

The rockets struck Ain al-Asad airbase in Anbar province at 7:20am local time on Wednesday, US military spokesperson Colonel Wayne Marotto said, adding that investigations were continuing.

The Iraqi military released a statement saying the attack did not cause significant losses and that security forces had found the launch pad used for the missiles.

It was the first attack since the US struck Iran-aligned militia targets along the Iraq-Syria border last week.

Loading

The US strike along the border had been in response to a spate of rocket attacks that targeted the American presence, including one that killed a coalition contractor from the Philippines outside the Irbil airport.

The Pentagon had said the strike was a “proportionate military response” taken after consulting coalition partners.

It stoked fears of a possible repeat of a series of tit-for-tat attacks that escalated last year, culminating in the US-directed strike that killed Iranian General Qassim Soleimani outside the Baghdad airport.

Wednesday’s attack comes two days before Pope Francis is scheduled to visit Iraq, despite deteriorating security in some parts of the country.

The much anticipated trip will include the capital city of Baghdad, southern Iraq and the northern city of Irbil.

US troops in Iraq significantly decreased their presence in the country last year under the Trump administration.

The forces withdrew from several Iraqi based across the country to consolidate chiefly in Ain al-Asad and Baghad.

Frequent rocket attacks targeting the heavily fortified Green Zone, which houses the US Embassy, during President Donald Trump’s time in office frustrated the administration, leading to threats of embassy closure and escalatory strikes.
